What is paintless dent repair (pdr)?
PDR is a repair technique, not a product. A technician gains access to the back of the dented panel — through a window gap, a removed trim piece, a lamp opening or a factory access hole — and uses steel rods and levers to lift the low spots a fraction of a millimetre at a time. High spots created by the impact are tapped down with a knock-down and a blending hammer. A PDR line board or LED reflection light shows every distortion in the reflection, which is how the technician reads progress.
Where there is no rear access, glue tabs are bonded to the paint and the dent is lifted from the outside (glue pull repair), then refined in the same way. The result is a panel that reads straight under reflection with its original paint, clear coat and orange-peel texture untouched.

How Dry Denter assesses the damage
Every job starts with an honest assessment. From your photos we look at the dent's size and depth, whether the paint is intact, how sharp the edges are, where the dent sits on the panel and how we can get behind it. We then tell you whether PDR is suitable, partly suitable (the dent can be reduced but not fully removed) or not suitable. Final confirmation happens under PDR lighting at the workshop, where hidden distortion becomes visible.
Repair process

- Access: trim, lamp or liner removed where needed — nothing is drilled
- The dent is pushed up in small passes from behind; high spots are tapped down
- The panel is checked from several angles until the reflection reads straight
- Trim is refitted, the panel is cleaned and a final check is done before handover
How long does it take?
A single small door ding usually takes under an hour. Deeper dents, creases and bodyline dents can take several hours because each pass must be small to avoid over-stretching the metal. Hail damage is measured in dents per panel and can take one to several days for a full vehicle. Access is the biggest variable: a dent behind a brace or double-skinned panel takes longer than the same dent on an open area.
Common questions about paintless dent repair (pdr)
Is dry denting the same as paintless dent repair?
Yes. "Dry denting" is the everyday name used in Pakistan for paintless dent repair — "dry" because no filler, primer or paint is applied. The technique, tools and result are the same.
Will the repair be visible afterwards?
A properly executed PDR repair on a suitable dent is not visible to the eye. Very deep dents may leave slight texture under close inspection with a reflection light, and we tell you before starting if that is likely.
Does PDR weaken the panel or the paint?
No. The metal is reshaped, not thinned or heated, and the paint is never sanded. Factory paint is flexible enough to move with the metal during the repair.
